Interim; life before the internet

Do you remember life before the internet?

If you don’t know, I was born in 1988, so I was a pre-internet child and certainly a pre-smart phone child. We got our first modem when I was 11 or 12, and it was the kind of internet where you couldn’t be on the phone at the same time so if someone called and someone in the house picked up there went your internet.

We would have to schedule things ahead of time, via the telephone or in person and hope the person showed up when they said they would.

I remember thinking when I was a teenager it would be so cool to have the internet wherever I went and frankly it is very cool that the universe’s wealth of knowledge lives in my pocket now, but also it’s kind if ruined my life. I wish I could disconnect but I’m such a dopamine seeker that it’s never gonna happen.

    Sorry to unsub.
I get 40 or so emails a day, and I am trying to keep up with potential interview emails. So I’ve been dumping email lists.
    Again.
I appreciate your essays and how you write.
I can’t promise to be back cause I have had and dumped at least 100 subs.
